Track and invoice hours per client or project.

Time tracking in Byna works with or without a project. Start the stopwatch or fill in your hours afterwards, see what you worked each day and put your billable hours on your client’s invoice in one go.

Track hours with the stopwatch.

Start the stopwatch, pick a client and a project if you want, and type what you are working on. Pause and resume as often as you like. When you stop, every stretch of work is saved as its own entry with your rate on it. Rather do it afterwards? Fill in a date with a start time and an end time, or pick a range of days in the calendar.

  • A client, a project, both or neither
  • Rounds up to 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes when you stop
  • Keeps running when you reload the page

See your hours per day and per week.

A day strip at the top shows the hours you worked on each day, two weeks side by side on a computer. Click a day and the list shows only that day. The hours per day chart splits billable from non-billable, and the timeline shows when the work happened.

  • Hours per day, week by week back in time
  • Billable and non-billable hours per day in one chart
  • Hours and value per project for the period you pick

Keep billable hours apart from the rest.

Every entry has a billable switch and its own hourly rate. At the top you see your total hours, your billable hours, what they are worth and what is still to be invoiced. Hours that land on an invoice are marked invoiced, and work you bill outside Byna you mark yourself.

  • Billable or not, per entry
  • Filter on still to be invoiced or invoiced
  • Mark a whole selection as invoiced at once

Put tracked hours on an invoice.

With the button next to an invoice line, choose Bill tracked hours. Filter on your client, tick the entries and add them in one go. Each entry becomes a line with its date, description and duration, priced at hours times rate. Save the invoice and those hours are marked invoiced.

  • Only billable hours that are not invoiced yet
  • Hours already invoiced stay visible but cannot be picked
  • Remove the line or the invoice and the hours are free again

Export an hours overview per client or project.

Filter on a period, a client, a project, billable or invoiced, or search on a description. Export everything in the list or only the entries you tick, as a PDF hours specification with your logo or as a CSV for Excel. Send the specification along with your invoice, so your client sees where the hours went.

  • PDF with a summary of your hours and a line per entry
  • CSV with date, times, client, project, rate and total
  • The export follows the filters you set

What you can do with it

Hours without a project

Link an entry to a client, a project or neither. Pick a project and its hourly rate and client are filled in for you.

Several days at once

Select a range of days in the calendar and Byna creates an entry for every day, with the same start time and end time.

Pauses on their own line

A pause of a minute or more while the stopwatch runs becomes a pause entry. It is never billable and stays out of your worked hours.

In your agenda too

Your logged hours show up as blocks in your agenda. Rather not see them there? One switch hides them.

Filters and search

Narrow the list by period, client, project, billable or invoiced, or search on description, project or client. Sort by date, client, duration or amount.

Work on a selection

Tick several entries to mark them invoiced or not invoiced, export only that selection or delete them in one go.

Ask the assistant

Ask the assistant how many hours you worked this month or how much is still to be invoiced, or have it log hours on a project.

Power BI and the API

The read-only data feed puts your time entries in your own Power BI and Excel reports. Through the API you read, create and update them from other software.

Common questions

Yes. Start the stopwatch on the Time Entries page, pick a client, a project and a description if you want, and pause or stop it when you are done. Every stretch of work becomes its own entry. A stretch shorter than 30 seconds is not saved.
